General Introduction
I am a third year master major in automation at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, P. R. China. With tremendous interest in Industrial Engineering, I am writing to apply for acceptance into your Ph.D. graduate program.
Education background
In 1995, I entered the Nanjing University of Science & Technology (NUST) -- widely considered one of the China’s best engineering schools. During the following undergraduate study, my academic records kept distinguished among the whole department. I was granted First Class Prize every semester,In 1999, I got the privilege to enter the graduate program waived of the admission test.
At the period of my graduate study, my overall GPA(3.77/4.0) ranked top 5% in the department. In the second semester, I became teacher assistant that is given to talented and matured students only. This year, I won the Acer Scholarship as the one and only candidate in my department, which is the ultimate accolade for distinguished students endowed by my university. Presently, I am preparing my graduation thesis and trying for the honor of Excellent Graduation Thesis.
Research experience and academic activity
When a sophomore, I joined the Association of AI Enthusiast and began to narrow down my interest for my future research. With the tool of OpenGL and Matlab, I designed a simulation program for transportation scheduling system. It is now widely used by different research groups in NUST. I assumed and fulfilled a sewage analysis & dispose project for Nanjing sewage treatment plant. This was my first practice to convert a laboratory idea to a commercial product.
In retrospect, I find myself standing on a solid basis in both theory and experience, which has prepared me for the Ph.D. program. My future research interests include: Network Scheduling Problem, Heuristic Algorithm research (especially in GA and Neural network), Supply chain network research, Hybrid system performance analysis with Petri nets and Data Mining.面試時如何自我介紹

The first thing to realize is that the question, "Tell me about yourself," provides you with a great chance to promote your strong points. This is particularly important when applying for a job that is different from what you have done in the past. You need to show the interviewer that your previous jobs provide you with skills that can be used in the new job.
WHAT TO TALK ABOUT 如何介紹？
妳可以選擇三個重點來介紹自己，但避免重復履歷中曾提及的資料。
Around this skeleton should be the meat of your answer; your less obvious, but important skills. Here are some of the skills that you might want to mention. 妳可以介紹自己是：

This doesn't mean that you just say, "I'm a great problem solver." Instead, explain how you used your problem-solving skills at your previous job. 事例比自我誇耀更能說明問題。

WHAT TO SAY 應說什麽？
What you actually say, in terms of the words you use, is something that you have to decide. You need to create an answer that sounds natural and, at the same time, interesting. 背答案估計沒有人願意聽。The way to determine whether your answer is natural is simply by writing a first draft of the answer and then read it out loud. When you do this, you'll probably spot things that you have to change.

Here are some final things to think about when answering the question "Tell me about yourself."
Mention major awards or accomplishments that relate to your career;

附錄2：自我介紹資料當面試考官隨便地間妳：“談談妳自己的情況如何？”這是面試中的第壹個問題。此刻，妳應把在此之前所有緊張不安的情緒穩定下來。因為這個問題，應試者已經做了充分的準備，並且有足夠的信心和勇氣相信自己能回答好這個問題。
1、自我介紹的內容
首先請報出自己的姓名和身份。可能應試者與面試考官打招呼時，已經將此告訴了對方，而且考官們完全可以從妳的報名表、簡歷等材料中了解這些情況，但仍請妳主動提及。這是禮貌的需要，還可以加深考官對妳的印象。
其次，妳可以簡單地介紹壹下妳的學歷、工作經歷等基本個人情況。請提供給考官關於妳個人情況的基本的、完整的信息，如：學歷、工作經歷、家庭概況、興趣愛好、理想與報負等。這部分的陳述務必簡明扼要、抓住要點。例如介紹自己的學歷，壹般只需談本專科以上的學歷。工作單位如果多，選幾個有代表性的或者妳認為重要的介紹，就可以了，但這些內容壹定要和面試及應考職位有關系。請保證敘述的線索清晰，壹個結構混亂、內容過長的開場自，會給考官們留下雜亂無章、個性不清晰的印象，並且讓考官倦怠，削弱對繼續進行的面試的興趣和註意力。

接下來要著重結合妳的職業理想說明妳應考這個公務員職位的原因，這壹點相當重要。妳可以談妳對應考單位或職務的認識了解，說明妳選擇這個單位或職務的強烈願望。原先有工作單位的應試者應解釋清楚自己放棄原來的工作而做出新的職業選擇的原因。妳還可以談如果妳被錄取，那麽妳將怎樣盡職盡責地工作，並不斷根據需要完善和發展自己。當然這些都應密切聯系妳的價值觀與職業觀。不過，如果妳將自己描述為不食人間煙火的、不計較個人利益的“聖人”，那麽考官們對妳的求職動機的信任，就要大打折扣了。
這裏我們介紹了壹條清晰的線索，便於妳組織妳的自我介紹。為了保證結構明確，有條有理，妳可以多用短句子以便於口語表述，並且在段與段之間使用過渡句子，口語也要註意思路、敘述語言的流暢，盡量避免顛三倒四，同壹句話反復說幾遍的“粘糊勁，同時不要用過於隨便的表述。
2、自我介紹的時間
壹般情況下，自我介紹應該是三～五分鐘較適宜。時間分配上，可根據情況靈活掌握。壹般地，第壹部分可以用約二分鐘，第二部分可以用約壹分鐘，第三部分用1～二分鐘。
好的時間分配能突出重點，讓人印象深刻，而這就取決於妳面試準備工作做得好壞了。如果妳事先分析了自我介紹的主要內容，並分配了所需時間，抓住這三、五分鐘，妳就能中肯、得體地表達出妳自己。有些應試者不了解自我介紹的重要性，只是簡短地介紹壹下自己的姓名、身份，其後補充壹些有關自己的學歷、工作經歷等情況，大約半分鐘左右就結束了自我介紹，然後望著考官，等待下面的提問。但也有的應試者想把面試的全部內容都壓縮在這幾分鐘裏。要知道面試考官會在下面的面試中間向妳提有關問題的，妳應該給自己也給他人留下這個機會。
3、自我介紹的重要性：通過自我介紹，主動地向面試考官推薦自己，這是面試組成結構的重要內容，同時也是面試測評的重要指標。
4、自我介紹的要點
（1）自我介紹是應以面試的測評為導向。
自我介紹也是壹種說服的手段與藝術，聰明的應試者會以公務員考錄的要求與測試重點而組織自我介紹的內容，妳不僅僅要告訴考官們妳是多麽優秀的人，妳更要告訴考官，妳如何地適合這個工作崗位。而與面試無關的內容，既使是妳引以為榮的優點和長處，妳也要忍痛舍棄，以突出重點。
（2）自我介紹要有充分的信心。
要想讓考官們欣賞妳，妳必須明確地告訴考官們妳具有應考職位必需的能力與素質，而只有妳對此有信心並表現出這種信心後，妳才證明了自己。
應試者在談自己的優點的壹個明智的辦法是：在談到自己的優點時，保持低調。也就是輕描淡寫、語氣平靜，只談事實，別用自己的主觀評論。同時也要註意適可而止，重要的、關鍵的，要談，與面試無關的特長最好別談。另外，談過自己的優點後，也要談自己的缺點，但壹定要強調自己克服這些缺點的願望和努力。
特別指出的是，不要誇大自己。壹方面從應試者的綜合素養表現，考官能夠大體估計應試者的能力；另壹方面，如果考官進壹步追問有關問題，將令“有水份”的應試者下不了臺。
面試中應試者的自我介紹，可以讓考官觀察到簡歷等書面材料以外的內容，如妳對自己的描述與概括能力，妳對自己的綜合評價以及妳的精神風貌等。自信、為人等是其中的重要的潛臺詞，應試者務必註意。
5、自我介紹的註意事項
（1）應試者應充分利用各種個人資源。除了前面提到的面帶微笑、目光交流、坐姿端正等表情、身體語言外，請以沈穩平靜的聲音、以中等語速、以清晰的吐字發音、以開朗響亮的聲調給考官以愉悅的聽覺享受，聲音小而模糊、吞吞吐吐的人，壹定是膽怯、緊張、不自信和缺乏活力與感染力的。
（2）情緒也是壹個需要控制的重要方面。情緒，做為個人的重要素養，如果在自我介紹中起伏波動，就會產生負面影響。例如在介紹自己的基本情況時面無表情、語調生硬；在談及自己的優點時眉飛色舞。興奮不已；而在談論自己的缺點時又無精打采、萎糜不振。
（3）有的應試者談及自己的興趣愛好時，說自己喜歡唱歌，便自做主張，壹展歌喉，在面試考場上為考官們唱它壹曲，直到被考官客氣地打斷後，才反應過來行為有些出格。
（4）有的應試者描述自己喜歡這樣、愛好那樣，如：文學、藝術、旅遊、攝影等等，由此考官進壹步詢問其拍攝過什麽作品，這位考生的回答卻是她喜歡別人給她拍照，還說家裏的幾本影集都已經滿了。
（5）有的應試者在介紹家庭關系時，似乎“漫不經心”地告訴考官們，自己的某位遠房親戚是應考單位的上司單位的某領導。
（6）有的應試者表示將來踏上工作崗位，將“壹定要……“絕對……諸如此類的保證，似乎在做就職演講。
這些例子很多畫蛇添足似的自我介紹不但不會為妳的形象增添色彩，會“越抹越黑”！。
